Live the Legend, Savour the History

Steeped in history and grandeur, Le Train Bleu is a Parisian icon located within the Gare de Lyon. Built in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition and unveiled in 1901 by French President Émile Loubet, this extraordinary establishment was designed by renowned architect Marius Toudoire, who also created the station’s clock tower and façade. From its inception, the restaurant was envisioned as a luxurious and modern culinary destination, quickly becoming a magnet for high society and artists.

Le Train Bleu’s majestic interiors are a masterpiece of Belle Époque splendor, with frescoes, gilded accents, and crystal chandeliers gracing its dining halls. Several areas of the restaurant, including the grand dining room, the gold lounge, and the Tunisian and Algerian lounges, were listed as historical monuments in 1972. This timeless elegance has also made Le Train Bleu a sought-after setting for film scenes in classics such as Nikita and Place Vendôme.

In 1963, the buffet was renamed “Le Train Bleu” as a tribute to the legendary Paris-Vintimille train line, which connected Paris to the French Riviera. Today, the restaurant continues to uphold its reputation as a destination where history, art, and gastronomy converge.

The collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Michel Rostang has elevated the menu to new heights. Emphasizing French tradition and regional authenticity, the cuisine celebrates seasonal ingredients and hearty dishes like stews, broths, and flambéed specialties. The maitre d’s put on a spectacular show with tableside meat carving and other expert flourishes, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.

Le Train Bleu is more than a stopover for travelers—it’s a journey in itself. Whether you’re a curious tourist, a Parisian regular, or passing through the station, the restaurant offers an experience that transcends time. Its two grand dining lounges and additional bar area with cozy, luxurious lounges provide an intimate and versatile escape for any occasion, from leisurely lunches to celebratory dinners.

Le Train Bleu is a celebration of Parisian culture and French gastronomy, where every visit feels like the beginning of a fabulous journey through the most beautiful regions of France.
